Kontenta — a free multifunctional mobile studio from Cultural Platform Zakarpattya NGO and UNICEF Ukraine — started working in the “Zustrich” youth center in Pereyaslav.

On March 21 and 22, the official opening of the studio and the presentation of the Kontenta project took place in the Pereyaslav Culture and Arts Center.

Kontenta is a free multifunctional mobile studio developed by the Cultural Platform Zakarpattya NGO together with UNICEF Ukraine.

It gives young people the opportunity to work individually, conduct group classes and lectures, record vocals and musical instruments, and shoot video blogs as well as podcasts while working with licensed software: Ableton Live and Native Instruments.

During the official opening, the young people of Pereyaslav attended a sound design workshop by Artem Nazarenko, recorded a podcast with Denys Cherniavsky, and experienced a live performance by BRYKULETS. The Pereyaslav Kontenta is the second out of 20 studios that will be opened in various Ukrainian communities in 2024.

In addition to the project opening events, Yevhen Zabarylo, co-founder of Cultural Platform Zakarpattya NGO, held a lecture titled “Conscious Citizen: Creative Industries as a Security Sector” for the students of Hryhoriy Skovoroda University in Pereyaslav. At the lecture, they talked about the subjectivity of young people, safety culture, the creative economy, and the teaching activity of Skovoroda. We are guided by his concept of the philosophy of the heart, so we are always glad to have the opportunity to communicate about Skovoroda’s oeuvre with the next generation.

Kontenta will be available for work during the “Zustrich” youth center’s opening hours so that young people have a chance to use all the equipment for free. In the studio, teenagers and young people will be able to exercise their right to self-expression, develop their personal projects, and explore Ukrainian musical traditions. The classes held in the studio establish mutual emotional support, increase the youth’s social cohesion, and generally improve their mental health levels through collaborative creation.

Kontenta operates through the social franchise model. Cultural Platform Zakarpattya NGO assists youth centers in setting up and launching studios, as well as mentoring and supporting their further activities. In general, Kontenta can be installed in two formats: as a full-fledged mobile studio or through the integration of technical equipment into the existing premises of youth centers.
