A quarter of Ukraine’s territory is contaminated with mines and unexploded ordnance. These explosive objects threaten the lives and health of people every day, especially children—due to their social activity and constant movement. So as long as demining continues, mine-awareness education will remain relevant. How can one teach children so as to protect them? How to do it effectively and interestingly? How to become a safety culture expert whom children trust?

To aid anyone teaching mine safety to children (especially educators, representatives of the State Emergency Service and the National Police), Cultural Platform Zakarpattya NGO in partnership with UNICEF Ukraine have created the “How To Teach Children Mine Safety” online course.
The study plan consists of three modules, in which 8 experts share advice, instruments, and materials to teach mine safety rules effectively and shape safe behavior among students of different ages.
Which other advantages of the course motivate people to complete the training and, eventually, contribute to the number of saved lives of young Ukrainians?
Recommended by UIED
The “How To Teach Children Mine Safety” online course has been developed by the best international and Ukrainian experts on psychology, education, child protection, social and behavioral changes in collaboration with the Ministry Of Education and the State Emergency Service. It is recommended for use by the Ukrainian Institute of Education Development.
Practical knowledge
The mine-awareness course has an aim for the child not only to understand the information but also to adopt a new behavioral pattern. In the three modules, you will find out what to tell children, how to communicate with them effectively, and how to construct a lesson based around a difficult topic.
Convenience and accessibility 24/7
The course is uploaded to a convenient platform that will allow anyone to join in from their smartphone or computer at any given moment. The materials are divided into short chapters: there are video lectures, short summaries, and quizzes that help retain new knowledge.
Completion certificate
Course participants to successfully pass the final testing will get a certificate of professional development. For educators, this will equal 1 ECTS credit.
Branded gifts
Certified participants can share how they conduct a mine safety class and how the training helped them. Everyone who fills out a special reporting form gets a chance to win branded gifts from the course team.
Every mine safety lesson taught is one more step towards more lives saved. Sign up for the online course to shape the safety culture of Ukrainian children together!
