‘All kids are different’: on April 25-28, Cultural Platform will hold workshops at the Book Land festival

Inclusive ‘Kids Like Kids’ location will be open for various activities and workshops for children and teens at VDNG on April 25-28.  During the festival, the youth will participate in music workshops, create their own books, listen to stories on diversity from Ukrainian celebrities, and more.

‘Kids Like Kids’

Cultural Platform Zakarpattya NGO will hold music workshops with Olena Karas and Artem Nazarenko and a live performance by Artistka Chuprynenko at the ‘Kids Like Kids’ space.

At the Culture Platform’s creative workshops, the adolescents will make a book cover with Danya Shulipa, develop a creative product with Denys Cherniavsky, voice an audiobook, and record a unique track with Bogdan Kuper.

The inclusive ‘Kids Like Kids’ space will not only be a place of entertainment and relaxation, but also become a manifesto of diversity through exploring the topic of each child being different, enjoying different things, and expressing themselves differently. Colorful socks? Pink braces? Being a hip-hop fan? Each kid has their unique dreams and hobbies. Each kid has a unique personality.

The space will also host partner activities for preschoolers, older children, and teenagers, namely:

  • reading children’s books about diversity from the Funkibator förlag publishing house with Ukrainian celebrities (Svitlana Tarabarova, Daniel Salem, Ivan Lyulenov);
  • “Sparks of Superpowers” puppet theater for preschoolers 3-6 years old;
  • “This Book Is About Me” artbook workshop for children;
  • “Musical Rhythm” and “Singing Circle” activities;
  • sticker-making zone where children and their parents will be able to create their own stickers revealing their uniqueness and showing what makes them different from others.

The festival entry as well as all workshops are free. You can check out the workshop schedule and sign up for the events at the ‘Kids Like Kids’ space here.

The location was created by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Ukraine in partnership with the Counselor-Envoy to the President of Ukraine on Children’s Rights and Child Rehabilitation, Daria Gerasymchuk, and the Vidchui NGO, as well as the Cultural Platform Zakarpattya NGO.
